Comments
Road construction is occurring. Use caution. This project will pave five miles of I-5 and build climbing lanes on the northbound and southbound approach to Roberts Mountain. Construction will continue until summer 2021. On Roberts Mountain (MP 118-116), the speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph in the southbound direction. The southbound shoulder is closed in this area. Trucks should use the right lane in both northbound and southbound directions. Throughout the work zone, watch for intermittent lane and shoulder closures, and for construction vehicles entering and exiting the travel lanes. Starting Tuesday evening, August 13, the contractor will begin intermittent nighttime (10 p.m. to 5 a.m.) blasting work along the southbound side of I-5. Rolling slowdowns will be used to create a gap in traffic during the blasting work. Most traffic delays will be about 10-20 minutes. In the southbound direction, pilot cars will lead I-5 traffic on a low-speed approach from the Winchester area to Roberts Mountain (milepost 129-118). Flaggers will hold traffic at each southbound on-ramp from Edenbower Blvd. (Exit 127) to the Oregon 42/Winston interchange (Exit 119). Northbound rolling slowdowns will begin in Tri City (milepost 103), with flaggers holding on-ramp traffic at every interchange from Myrtle Creek/Weaver Road (Exit 106) to Clarks Branch Road (Exit 113). Road construction is occurring. Use caution. US 101: Young’s Bay (New Youngs Bay) Bridge Repair Project (Clatsop County) (Oregon Coast Highway, mileposts 4.53 to 5.33) This project includes work as follows: • Install temporary traffic control and; • replacing rocker bearings; • repairing the damaged concrete with cathodic protection; and • replacing compression joint seals. Initially in mid March, the traveling public will notice the contractor building the containment structure which will be attached to the sides of the bridge, and a barge in the water with support boats bringing crew and materials to and from the barge. Once the containment structure is in place, actual construction will begin. Most of the construction will be performed below the bridge from the barge. The traveling public can expect periodic single lane closures at night to allow the contractor to move equipment. The lane closures will be Sunday night through Friday morning, 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. A complete two week night time closure of the bridge is scheduled in 2021 toward the end of the project. An alternative route during periods of lane closures and the full night time closure is U.S. 101B over the Old Youngs Bay and Lewis and Clark River Bridges. The public is encouraged to sign up for project updates to be delivered via email by copying an pasting the following link into your web browser and following the steps to enroll: https://public.govdelivery.com/accounts/ORDOT/subscriber/new?topic_id=ORDOT_126

Lane closures on OR 99E/NE MLK over I-5 for bridge deck seal several nights from 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. between the weeks of August 12-15 and 19-23. Lane closures on the OR 99E/NE MLK Jr. Boulevard bridge over I-5 near Delta Park and the Expo Center. At least one lane will remain open in each direction at all times. For one night the southbound I-5 ramp to eastbound MLK Jr. Blvd will be closed and traffic using this ramp will be detoured to the traffic signal on MLK Jr. Boulevard. ODOT is applying a bridge deck concrete seal on 18 bridges throughout the Portland region this summer. The deck seal will create a barrier, keep water from seeping into the bridge and increase the lifespan of the bridge.
