Access on the Steens Mountain Loop Road, from South Steens Campground to Big Indian Gorge Overlook, is closed while stabilization work is done on a rockfall that happened in the area in 2023. This work could take several weeks. South Steens Campground is still open and accessible.

This section of road, from Big Indian Gorge Overlook + 1-2 miles, WILL REMAIN CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. This closure prevents continuous travel around the entire Steens Mountain Loop Road. You can still access all the major points of interest, but some destinations will require and "out and back" trip. In 2023, there was a rockfall on this area of the road. This section of the road was closed for the entire visitor season in 2023 and remains closed at this time. Once it is stabilized, that section of the road will open to motorized travel.

The project will repave sections of 8th Avenue from Lincoln Street to Mill Street, convert the section to a two-way street, construct protected bike lanes from High Street to Lincoln Street, add 4-way stops at key intersections, and widen sidewalks and reconstruct sidewalk access ramps. 

Motor vehicle parking on the south side of 8th Avenue will be removed and parking on the north side will be relocated away from the curb, to allow for the protected bike lanes. The project aims to create a safe travel option for community members of all ages and abilities to access Downtown Eugene.

Expect periodic closures and equipment and workers in the roadway. Follow signed detours.

Construction for a multi-use path on the west side of Shute Road will include lane closures and delays for utilities work and widening. Traffic control includes flaggers.

Lane County will be performing construction work to replace failing culvert under Row River Road to mitigate the risk of future landslides. The work will take place at four different locations between May 20, 2024 and Fall of 2024. Each culvert replacement will require a full road closure of 4-6 weeks.

Planned work for this project includes isolated pavement repairs, milling and replacing the top 3” of existing asphalt pavement, installing centerline rumble strips, striping, and shoulder rock.

This work is planned to be completed between June 10, 2024 and August 31, 2024. Please note that due to a contract change, a section of striping work between Riches Rd and State St will be completed in September. Construction hours for this project are 7:00am to 5:00pm.

Marion County Public Works will be closing Hazelgreen Road on Monday, May 13th, 2024 for a Construction Project and the replacement of Bridge #05387.The road will remain closed until October 31st, 2024. A detour will be in place during construction. Emergency and Local traffic will not be allowed through the closure area.

Please note that Torvend Road will also be closed for some time during the Hazelgreen Road closure. Construction will be by Farline Bridge.

The rehabilitation will include replacing the rotting timber decking system and installing a new deck membrane and deck joints to protect the timber girders and pile caps, installing new bridge rails to improve roadway safety and installing new guardrail and guardrail transitions at the bridge approaches.

The project involves the completion of urban bicycle and ADA compliant pedestrian facilities along Connecticut Avenue SE between Macleay Road/Pennsylvania Avenue and Rickey Street/Macleay Road. 

A new walkway and sidewalk infill will be constructed on the east side of Elma Av. Enhanced safety measures such as high-visibility signing and striping will also be installed at Elma and Mahrt. Traffic calming measures will be constructed at the intersections near the school- at Elma & Beck and Elma & Durbin.

A large culvert at the public entrance to Brown's Island Landfill is failing. This project will construct a new bridge over the existing culvert to ensure continued public access.

Carter and Company construction has been contracted to complete bicycle and pedestrian improvements on Hayesville Drive between Portland Road and Fuhrer Street.
