This section of road, from Big Indian Gorge Overlook + 1-2 miles, WILL REMAIN CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. This closure prevents continuous travel around the entire Steens Mountain Loop Road. You can still access all the major points of interest, but some destinations will require and "out and back" trip. In 2023, there was a rockfall on this area of the road. This section of the road was closed for the entire visitor season in 2023 and remains closed at this time. Once it is stabilized, that section of the road will open to motorized travel.

The project will repave sections of 8th Avenue from Lincoln Street to Mill Street, convert the section to a two-way street, construct protected bike lanes from High Street to Lincoln Street, add 4-way stops at key intersections, and widen sidewalks and reconstruct sidewalk access ramps. 

Motor vehicle parking on the south side of 8th Avenue will be removed and parking on the north side will be relocated away from the curb, to allow for the protected bike lanes. The project aims to create a safe travel option for community members of all ages and abilities to access Downtown Eugene.

Expect periodic closures and equipment and workers in the roadway. Follow signed detours.

A detour is in place for the Mill Street Reconstruction project for those walking, rolling, biking, or driving. To access West D Street, please use the detour via Kelly Blvd. and West E Street to safely cross Mill Street. This detour will be in place until the end of 2024 and updates will be posted as changes are made.

The Mill Street Reconstruction Project is underway which means traffic on Mill Street is restricted to one-way northbound travel between Main Street and Centennial Boulevard using the west side of the street until May 1, 2025. Then traffic will shift to the other side of the street and continue to be one-way traffic for several more months.

Expect minor delays during construction with flaggers controlling traffic as needed. This information will be updated as the project progresses.

Lane County will be performing construction work to replace failing culvert under Row River Road to mitigate the risk of future landslides. Marion County Public Works will be closing Hazelgreen Road on Monday, May 13th, 2024 for a Construction Project and the replacement of Bridge #05387.The road will remain closed until October 31st, 2024. A detour will be in place during construction. Emergency and Local traffic will not be allowed through the closure area.

The rehabilitation will include replacing the rotting timber decking system and installing a new deck membrane and deck joints to protect the timber girders and pile caps, installing new bridge rails to improve roadway safety and installing new guardrail and guardrail transitions at the bridge approaches.

The project involves the completion of urban bicycle and ADA compliant pedestrian facilities along Connecticut Avenue SE between Macleay Road/Pennsylvania Avenue and Rickey Street/Macleay Road. 

A new walkway and sidewalk infill will be constructed on the east side of Elma Av. Enhanced safety measures such as high-visibility signing and striping will also be installed at Elma and Mahrt. Work to improve the Carpenter Lane access to the filtration facility site is ongoing, including paving the road and the temporary pedestrian path on Carpenter Lane and installing retaining wall and right turn lane at Dodge Park Boulevard and Cottrell Road Sept. 16-20. Paving Carpenter Lane will occur on Saturday, Sept. 21.

Miami-Foley Road will be CLOSED from October 1st to October 4th for Bridge Construction.

Miami-Foley Road will be closed at milepost 7.6 near the vicinity of Westpoint Drive beginning the morning of Tuesday, October 1^st to Friday evening October 4^th. The dates are set to be compliant with environmental restrictions. The contractor will be installing the foundation system for a new bridge. Full road closure is necessary due to the size of equipment. The road will be reopened with an asphalt surface once work is complete. No additional road closures are scheduled for fall/winter 2024. Bridge work will start again in spring/summer of 2025.

Subsurface conditions will determine the extent of closure. The contractor will make every effort to reopen the road as soon as possible.
