ORE224, Tong Road near Damascus MP 10 - 14; Closure with Detour
Trucks over 40 feet use WB detour at 211 to 26 to 212, EB detour use 212 to Amsigger to 224. Other vehicles use Tong to 232nd or 232nd to Tong., ODOT will close OR 224 at Tong Road Thursday afternoon, February 23, after seven slides in 16 days forced closure of the road. The closure is needed to protect the public from future slides and to allow the contractor to conduct emergency repairs on the 70-foot hillside. The closure could be in place for several weeks while the emergency fix is designed, a contractor is chosen and the repairs made. Local residents will continue to have access to their homes. Here are details of the closure, which is scheduled to begin about 2 p.m. Thursday. Westbound traffic will be directed onto Southeast 232nd Drive Eastbound traffic will be directed onto Southeast Tong Road. In addition, signs will warn travelers of the closure and will advise truckers to take OR 212 as an alternate route. ODOT is working with Clackamas County and the property owners to put the emergency repairs in place. Record rainfall has apparently weakened the hillside and contributed to the recent slides. Starting Feb. 5, debris slides have caused closure of the road at that spot seven times. ODOT hydrologists and engineers are working to devise the necessary emergency repairs.

ORE104, Warrenton MP 5; Closure with Detour
Bridge work has the highway closed; a detour is in place. Use an alternate route., The Oregon Department of Transportation will be closing the Skipanon River Bridge on OR 104 (milepost 4.62) for one weekend so a bridge crew can remove and replace the bridge deck. OR 104 is also known as the Fort Stevens Highway Spur Road. The bridge will close on Saturday, February 25 at 7 a.m. and reopen to traffic on Monday, February 27 after paving is completed. This is a 24-hour closure so crews can also fix the west approach to the steel span bridge, remove and replace the deck and pave it. Since the deck is being removed, crews will not be able to accommodate emergency vehicles or any traffic during the closure. Travelers can detour around the closure by using OR 105 (Harbor Street) and U.S. 101. Variable message signs will be placed at least one week before the closure to notify the public of the closure.
