The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow ... Which is in effect until 5 PM PDT this afternoon. * Snow accumulations ... 6 to 12 inches. * Winds Southwest 15 to 20 MPH this morning ... Increasing to 20 to 30 MPH from late this morning through mid afternoon. * Timing The heaviest snow will be from late this morning through early this afternoon. Snow will taper off to snow showers late this afternoon. * Locations include Crater Lake. * Impacts Travel will be difficult due to heavy, wet snow. Travelers planning to visit the area today should be prepared for hazardous winter-like conditions. Winter Weather Advisory, *NOAA Issue Date: 4/26/2017 03:02:00 AM Winter Weather Advisory now in effect until 7 PM this evening above 4500 feet ... * Timing Rain or snow will continue this morning, then transition to showers this afternoon. Heaviest precipitation will be this morning until early afternoon. * Snow level..4500 to 5000 feet. * Snow accumulations ... 2 to 6 inches for the Santiam and Willamette passes. Heavier accumulations will occur for the higher ski resort elevations, where 6 to 12 inches of snow are expected. Heaviest totals are likely to occur Mount Jefferson southward. * Winds West wind 15 to 25 MPH with gusts up to 40 MPH on exposed ridges. * Impacts Expect roads above 4500 feet to be snow covered at times today into this evening. This afternoon, snow accumulations will become more slushy on roads, such as highway 58 at Willamette Pass and highway 20 over Santiam Pass. Precautionary/preparedness actions... Comments: The week of April 23rd, single lane and ramp closures will be in place from 7pm-7am. Speed is reduced to 50mph in the work zone. Ramps Affected. Contractors will be working on the ramp shoulders from 7pm-10pm Exit 76 EB on and off ramp will be closed April 23rd from 10pm-5am. Exit 82 EB on and off ramps will be closed April 25th from 10pm-5am. Exit 83 EB on and off ramps will be closed April 26th & 27th from 10pm-5am.
