A contractor is working on a project to repave Highway 213 (Cascade Highway South) from Interstate 205 to Conway Drive in Oregon City. The work includes roadway repairs, repaving, new signs, and updated signals.
Monday, July 6 through Saturday, July 11, the contractor will pave the ramps from I-205 northbound to Highway 213. This work will require closing the Oregon 213/Park Place Molalla off-ramp (exit 10) from I-205 northbound from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Monday night through Thursday night and 7:30 p.m. to 9 a.m. Friday night through Saturday morning.
Motorists traveling to Oregon 213/Park Place Molalla (exit 10) can continue on I-205 northbound to the Gladstone/DMV off-ramp (exit 11), west to I-205 southbound, to Oregon 213/Park Place Molalla off-ramp (exit 10).
During the week, the contractor will pave the intersection of Highway 213 at Washington Street. The paving work will require lane closures from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. the following morning. Flaggers will direct motorists through the intersections of Highway 213 and Washington Street.
Motorists can expect nighttime intermittent lane closures on Highway 213 between Redland Road and Beavercreek Road for barrier placement. The lane closures will take place nightly from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. (9:00 a.m. Saturday)

This project also includes building retaining walls and improving drainage on the highway, lengthening the Wilshire St. overpass,
and paving and striping the project area and the Highway 217/U.S. 26 interchange ramps. Lane closures on Highway 217 will only take place during nighttime hours of 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The contractor has installed temporary concrete barriers and striping through the project area. Motorists should watch for temporary lane restrictions as well as permanent changes to the lane configurations.
These changes included shifting northbound traffic to the west to create a work zone along the right shoulder. Additionally, only one lane connects Highway 217 northbound to U.S. 26 eastbound. Motorists must use the right lane to travel to U.S. 26 eastbound. Motorists traveling in the center lane of Highway 217 northbound will not be able to access U.S. 26 eastbound. The center lane of Highway 217 northbound will now only continue north to Barnes Road and will not connect to U.S. 26 eastbound. These new lane configurations will be in place for the duration of the project.
The Wilshire Street overpass is being prepared for reconstruction. The sidewalk on the north side of the Wilshire Street overpass is closed. Pedestrians will be detoured to the sidewalk on the south side of the structure. The contractor recently reduced the number of travel lanes on the Wilshire Street overpass - only one travel lane remains open in each direction.
The contractor will continue building the first retaining wall on Highway 217 near the Walker Rd. on-ramp during the week of Monday, July 6, to Friday, July 10. This work will take place behind a temporary barrier during daytime work hours from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The contractor will also continue clearing the hillside in preparation for upcoming drainage and electrical work on OR 217 between Tualatin-Valley Highway and Walker Road, and between the Walker Road off-ramp and northbound Highway 217.
The contractor will begin installing drainage pipe along the shoulder of Highway 217 northbound from the Cabot St. overpass to the Walker Road off-ramp and continue removing utilities from under the Wilshire Street overpass. This work will take place during daytime work hours from
7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Please be aware that work zone speed limits will be enforced by enhanced police traffic patrols in the area. Fines will double in this construction zone.

Traffic on the Highway 99E northbound viaduct has been shifted to a temporary structure. Northbound traffic is shifted to the west to allow the contractor to begin building the new northbound viaduct. Motorists are encouraged to slowdown when traveling through the new alignment.
Monday, July 6, the contractor will remove the old northbound structure. This work will require nighttime closures of Division Street from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The contractor has closed access to the on and off-ramp to southbound Highway 99E at Division Place. However, the on and off-ramp will remain open during the closure via a detour to S.E. 4th Avenue. This detour will be in effect until July.
The column and footings construction work will require the closure of Caruthers Street under the viaducts. Bikes and motor traffic will be detoured around the construction work during the Caruthers Street closure. Other work will require a lane closure on Stephens Street, with flaggers controlling traffic during work hours.
The contractor has closed the ramp connecting westbound Division Street to northbound Highway 99E (Grand Avenue). This ramp is scheduled to be closed until 2010 to allow crews to remove the existing northbound viaduct and build a new structure.
During the ramp closure, motorists will be directed to take Division Street to northbound 7th Avenue to westbound Clay Street to northbound Highway 99E (Grand Avenue).
Please be alert to enhanced police traffic patrols in the Highway 99E viaduct replacement work area.
