US97 MP 141.86 to 149.22

Estimated delay under 20 minutes; Construction Work
Lanes Affected: (Southbound) 1 Lane
Comments: Beginning Tuesday, May 31, the Southbound slow lane will be closed for a shoulder widening project. No to minimum delay expected. The Romaine Village to Lava Butte Project includes shoulder widening and installation of median barrier. Work will be performed during the day; motorists can expect delays of less than 20 minutes through the work zone. Starting in August, paving will be performed at night from 7pm to 7am, with one lane of traffic in each direction. Drivers can expect minimal delays during paving operations. When completed, the $6 million project will have widened the highway and installed a new concrete median safety barrier, extending the current barrier from Lava Butte to the south City of Bend city limits. (There will be a gap in the barrier permitting traffic to enter the High Desert Museum.) Once completed, the median barrier will reduce serious cross-over crashes. The project is expected to be completed by the end of October.
