US20, 9 miles West of Tombstone SnoPark Area MP 54 - 57; Closure
Sheep Creek Bridge is out. The road is completely closed to all traffic until the end of September. Please use alternate routes of OR22 or OR126., Bridge is located 25 miles east of Sweet Home and 16 miles west of US20/OR126 intersection. This project will remove and repair the Sheep Creek Bridge that has been damaged by a landslide that has been pushing against it. All campgrounds in the area will remain open. This bridge will have to be completely removed and replaced before we can reopen this section of the highway.

Details: I-5 MP 161.0 to MP 162.3 NB & SB (Anlauf) Effective July 6, 2016, all loads over 12 ft wide traveling on I-5 between MP 161-162.3 through the construction zone, must travel with a rear pilot vehicle. The rear pilot vehicle shall prevent traffic from passing the overwidth load at all times. Motor carriers not operating with a rear pilot vehicle on this section of I-5 will be provided free pilot vehicle escort service; vehicles traveling northbound must pull over and stage at MP 155.7, vehicles traveling southbound must pull over and stage at MP 166.3, then call 541-405-6934 and wait for pilot vehicle escort. Motor carriers already operating with a rear pilot vehicle do not need to pull over at the signed staging locations and wait for pilot vehicle escort. Convoying of loads may be allowed on a case-by-case basis for loads that are escorted by ODOT provided pilot vehicles. All trucks traveling on I-5 between MP 161-162.3 must stay in the right lane - passing other vehicles is prohibited. Estimated date of completion is September 15, 2016.

Comments: Minimal delays during the day. Possible lane closures at night. Watch for workers, trucks and other distractions in the area. Use caution. Obey speed. Update: Travelers should expect distractions from off-road work in the area and be prepared for trucks entering and exiting the roadway. Oregon State Police will be enforcing the speed limit through the work zone area. Summary: This is the last phase of a multi-year interchange project. This phase will begin with the building of a new bridge over I-5 to accommodate a reconfigured onramp. A sound wall will be built south of Beltline and east of Coburg Road, and then an additional lane will be added on eastbound Beltline from Coburg Road to I-5 on ramps. For bike and pedestrian travelers, the multi-use path will be extended south, linking Harlow Road to North Garden Way. This project is scheduled to be completed December 2017.

Summary: A contractor working for the Oregon Department of Transportation begins a bridge deck membrane replacement and paving project working on four OR-126 bridges in Springfield on Sunday. The bridges involved cross Pioneer Parkway, North 5th Street, North 28th Street, and North 42nd Street. Construction will NOT occur over the Labor Day weekend, resuming the following Tuesday night at 7 p.m. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of September. One lane of traffic will be open in each direction during construction. Travelers should be aware of the work zone as it changes lanes and moves from bridge to bridge.

Comments: Slow down, watch for loose gravel and bumps. Expect daytime lane closures with flagger control and up to 20 minute delays. No holiday weekend work. The Contractor will be on-site August 25 to grind out asphalt roadway sections to prepare for paving. Temporary asphalt wedges will be installed and “BUMP” signs will be posted to warn drivers. Roadway surface leveling is scheduled to start August 29 and will be followed by mainline paving on August 30. No work is scheduled for September 2-5. Until the highway is paved, drivers should continue to use caution and be aware of the potential of loose gravel on the highway and follow the posted reduced speed signs. The project is scheduled to be completed by the beginning of September 2016. Summary: OR 429 from Willamette Highway to Lava Odell Road (milepost 0.000 – milepost 2.39) will begin a month long highway paving project beginning Thursday, August 18. The paving on OR 429 is a three-part process, which consists of a fine aggregate chip seal application, a course aggregate chip seal application and finishing with a layer of asphalt concrete pavement over the top of the chip seal. The chip seal work will be intermittent due to a required 14-day curing time after each layer of chip seal is applied. Travelers should expect single lane closures as well as short delays. Striping will occur after paving is completed and will also result in single lane closures and short delays. During the project, flaggers and pilot cars will direct traffic through the area. Temporary signs have been placed to warn travelers about the upcoming work. The project is to be completed by the beginning of September.

GVW., Weight Table 2 for divisible loads; 21,500 lbs. single axle, 43,000 lbs. tandem axle, 98,000 lbs. GVW., Weight Table 3 for non-divisible loads. Vehicles exceeding these weights may cross the bridge if they straddle the centerline, do not exceed 25 MPH and are the only vehicle on the bridge. Certified flaggers are required to stop traffic.

Comments: Sheep Creek Bridge is out. The road is completely closed to all traffic until the end of September. Please use alternate routes of OR22 or OR126. Bridge is located 25 miles east of Sweet Home and 16 miles west of US20/OR126 intersection. This project will remove and repair the Sheep Creek Bridge that has been damaged by a landslide that has been pushing against it. All campgrounds in the area will remain open. This bridge will have to be completely removed and replaced before we can reopen this section of the highway.

Comments: Expect daytime delays with up to 20 minutes with flagger control and pilot car. Use caution. Project Summary: This project will pave approximately 17 miles on the Oregon Coast Highway. Signs and guardrail will be replaced and/or adjusted. A new bridge membrane will be placed to protect Sutton Creek Bridge and surfacing stabilization work will be done on the bridge ends at both Sutton Creek and Big Creek. A new retaining wall will be constructed in the vicinity of the Heceta Head lighthouse, as well as two others just south of Sunnyview Lane. The project is expected to be completed by mid-September 2016.

Project Summary: This project will make repairs to the existing concrete and reinforcement and replace the cathodic protection system on the Siuslaw River Bridge Seismic restraints to help maintain the integrity of the bridge in an earthquake will also be added. Sidewalk closure on one side of bridge. A new ornamental bridge rail will replace the existing rail along with improved pedestrian access to the bridge. Work is to be completed by the end of March in 2019.
