ORE99W, Intersection with Pacific Highway I-5 MP -6 - -5; Closure with Detour
Travelers should expect periodic single lane closures on Columbia Boulevard from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. between the I-5 southbound on-ramp and North Argyle., This project is rehabilitating and repaving the OR 99W (North Denver Avenue) bridge from North Victory Boulevard to North Argyle Street. The North Schmeer Road/Denver Avenue intersection and southbound ramp from North Victory Boulevard to North Denver Avenue will be realigned. The work is expected to be complete in the fall of 2015.

US101B, 2 miles West of Astoria MP 5; Closure with Detour
The Lewis and Clark River Bridge will be closed starting December 1, 2014; a detour will be in place. Use an alternate route., The Lewis & Clark River Bridge is scheduled to be closed to facilitate construction activities starting December 1, 2014. This closure is anticipated to last until August 1, 2015. A detour route will be designated with signing during the length of the closure. The project is scheduled to be completed in November 2017.

Comments: Expect periodic nighttime lane closures on Lower Boones Ferry Road in both directions Monday to Friday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Construction is underway on a seismic retrofit project for five bridges along the Interstate 5 corridor between Portland’s South Waterfront district and the Tualatin River. Retrofitting the state’s older bridges to meet modern seismic specifications will help ensure I-5 would not be immobilized in the event Oregon experiences a powerful earthquake. Comments: I-5 sign replacement and paving project requires shoulder, lane, ramp and nighttime freeway closures on I-5 and on the Marquam and Fremont bridges. Project Description: The project will take place on Interstate 5 from Southwest Capitol Highway to North Lombard Street and will include: • Sign Replacement: Beginning in Spring*, many of the green highway signs on I-5 from Southwest Corbett Avenue to North Lombard Street and on both decks of the Fremont Bridge (I-405) will be replaced. Existing signs will be updated to meet federal standards; new signs will feature more reflective materials and a less cluttered design, making them easier to read. • Paving: Starting this spring/summer*, about seven miles of I-5 between Southwest Capitol Highway and the Marquam Bridge will be repaved. The pavement, last replaced in 2004, is deteriorating and needs to be repaired. Transitions to on- and off-ramps will also be repaved and improvements will be made to several bridges. * Construction is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2015, but work is weather dependent and dates are subject to change.

Comments: Motorist should use caution as they approach Marine Drive from North Frontage. The right turn to Marine Drive has been shifted. The project will widen Marine Drive between the two frontage roads to allow for two-way traffic. It will also replace the existing I-84 overpass bridges at Marine Drive with a new bridge. The Marine Drive intersections at the Frontage Roads will also be improved. Traffic Impacts: Motorists should exercise caution and slow down as they approach Marine Drive from North Frontage Road (heading west). The right turn to Marine Drive has been shifted from the old ramp to a hard right at the signalized intersection. Drivers should yield to pedestrians at the new crosswalk. • Please exercise caution as large construction equipment may be operating in the right hand shoulder of this area, and entering traffic from the left side at the intersection. • Night time lane closures may occur on freeways and frontage roads as the contractor hauls material around the site, and temporary pavement markings are re-installed. Retrofitting the state’s older bridges to meet modern seismic specifications will help ensure I-5 would not be immobilized in the event Oregon experiences a powerful earthquake. Traffic Impacts: The I-5 bridge work over Southwest Hood Avenue in South Waterfront requires a 24-hour single lane closure on Southwest Hood Avenue under the I-5 bridge until approximately April 2015. Due to this lane closure, road users are not permitted to continue straight on Southwest Bancroft Street from Southwest Hood Avenue. All traffic on Southwest Hood Avenue will be required to either turn right or left on Southwest Macadam Avenue. A fully signed detour is in place directing road users back to Southwest Bancroft Street via Southwest Macadam Avenue, Southwest Curry Street and Southwest Moody Avenue. Comments: Work Monday through Friday from sunrise to sunset. This week's work will include 24-hour flagging on the west end of the project and blasting on Tues. Project Description: Construction of safety improvements to prevent severe and fatal crashes on U.S. 26 from east of Kiwanis Camp Road to east of the Mirror Lake Curves and preserve the highway to Oregon Highway 35 is underway on Mt. Hood. Work on the nearly eight mile stretch of U.S. 26 includes: • Paving between Silent Rock and OR 35. • Cutting back the slope along a 600 foot section at Map Curve to provide a 27 foot wide ditch for rocks to land away from the road. • Cutting back the rock slope east of the runaway truck ramp to east of the Mirror Lake trailhead. • Highway widening to install a median barrier. • Constructing a retaining wall to reduce impacts to existing trails from highway widening work. • Extending the westbound passing lanes for a total of about 1,400 feet. Traffic Impacts: Starting Monday, one lane will remain open in each direction for a nearly three mile stretch of U.S. 26 from east of Kiwanis Camp Road to east of the Mirror Lake Curves. This lane closure will remain in place, around-the-clock from April 1 to October 31. Monday through Friday, travelers will encounter traffic stops controlled by flaggers, lane and shoulder closures from sunrise to sunset.

Expect minor delays US101: Columbia River (Astoria–Megler) Bridge (Oregon Coast Highway, mile post 1.80 to 3.03) This project consists of recoating the steel above the bridge deck on the southern side of the Columbia River Bridge along U.S. 101 north of Astoria. The scheduled work includes installation of the containment structures in preparation of painting the remaining bridge steel above the bridge deck along with miscellaneous touch-up painting throughout the bridge structure. Flaggers will control single lane traffic during construction activities as required. Lane delays will be allowed anytime on weekdays and weekends. Expect delays of up to 20 minutes and drive through the area with caution. Oregon State Police will be enforcing the speed limit through the work zone area. Non-divisible loads exceeding these weights (up to Weight Table 5) may cross the bridge if they stop traffic/straddle the centerline and are the only vehicle on the bridge when crossing. Certified flaggers are required to stop both northbound and southbound traffic. The rolling stop method is not allowed.

The scheduled work includes reconstruction of the Lewis & Clark River Bridge. The Lewis & Clark River Bridge is now closed to facilitate construction activities. This full closure is anticipated to last until August 1, 2015. A detour route is currently designated with signing. The scheduled work at the Old Youngs Bay Bridge includes rehabilitation of the electrical and mechanical systems. Flaggers will control single lane traffic at the Old Youngs Bay Bridge during construction when work is occurring as required. Minor delays should be expected when single lane closures are occurring and the public is reminded to drive through the area with caution.
