I-5, 2 miles South of Highway 217

Incident #:71489

Estimated delay under 20 minutes
Construction Work

Lanes Affected: (Southbound) Median , All Lanes , Shoulder (Northbound) Median , All Lanes , Shoulder
Comments: Expect nighttime lane and ramp closures closures this week on I-5 between Tualatin and Wilsonville. A contractor is working on a seven-mile paving project on I-5 between the Tualatin River and Willamette River in Wilsonville. Work includes widening the Nyberg Rd. off-ramp from I-5 south, adding auxiliary lanes on I-5 northbound from the Boone Bridge (Willamette River Bridge) to the Wilsonville Rd. off-ramp and from I-205 southbound to I-5 southbound to the Elligsen Rd. off-ramp, and building a new sound wall along I-5 south in Tualatin. Lane closures and ramp closures take place primarily on weeknights from 7:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. During the week of Monday, Nov. 23, through Wednesday, Nov. 25, temporary striping and minor excavation work will require daytime shoulder closures on I-5 in both directions between Tualatin and Wilsonville. The contractor closed and is currently working in the right lane of the 2-lane ramp from I-205 to I-5 southbound. Traffic has shifted to the east (left) on the I-205 off-ramp to I-5 southbound and on I-5 southbound between Nyberg Road and N. Wilsonville, resulting in narrow shoulders in this 2-mile stretch. The closure will allow the contractor to begin constructing the new auxiliary lane, improve drainage, and construct a new sound wall. During the week, the contractor will perform survey, pipe work and saw cutting on the I-205 to I-5 southbound ramp behind a barrier. This right lane closure and the traffic shift will remain in effect 24 hours a day until the auxiliary lane is complete in August 2010. . During nighttime work hours, the contractor will install traffic loop detectors, set temporary barriers and install temporary striping. This work is weather dependent and requires lane closures on I-5 northbound from Wilsonville to Tualatin. The contractor will begin closing lanes at 7:30 p.m. each night. All lanes will be open by 6 a.m. the following morning. During the week there will be intermittent on and off ramp closures at the I-205 to I-5 and Nyberg Interchanges. Monday night, Nov. 23, the Charbonneau on-ramp to I-5 northbound will close between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. for sign cantilever installation. Tuesday night, Nov. 24, the contractor will close the I-205 to I-5 southbound ramp for two hours between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. for striping. Motorists traveling to I-5 southbound from I-205 can take I-5 northbound to the Tualatin Sherwood off-ramp (exit 289) and enter I-5 southbound. The speed limit on I-5 northbound and southbound is reduced to 55 MPH. This speed reduction is in effect 24 hours a day and will remain in place for the next couple months. Please be alert to enhanced police traffic patrols by Oregon State Police in the I-5 Preservation work area. For more information:

I-5, 3 miles South of Oregon Washington Border

Incident #:63811

Estimated delay under 20 minutes
Construction Work

Lanes Affected: (Southbound) Median , All Lanes , Shoulder (Northbound) Median , All Lanes , Shoulder
Comments: Expect shoulder and nighttime lane closures on I-5 Monday through Wednesday. A contractor is working on a project to widen I-5 between Victory Boulevard and Lombard Street. The 1.2-mile project includes adding a third lane to southbound I-5, constructing a new southbound entrance ramp bridge at Columbia Boulevard, widening bridges and adding shoulders to northbound I-5. Lane closures on I-5 will only take place during nighttime hours, generally between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. The contactor is working on widening the northbound side of the freeway. During the week of Monday, Nov. 23, to Wednesday, Nov. 25, the contractor will perform daytime shoulder closures on I-5 and the northbound Victory Blvd off-ramp (exit 306B) between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The shoulder closures will allow the contractor to remove concrete barrier from the off-ramp and install temporary erosion control measures on the newly constructed slope. Please exercise caution and watch for trucks entering and exiting the work zone on the northbound Victory Blvd off-ramp (exit 306B). Monday, November 23, the contractor will close the right lane of I-5 southbound in the project limits from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for installation of new camera poles and moving concrete barrier. The contractor opened the new Columbia Blvd. off-ramp (exit 306A). Motorists should be aware that the alignment of the new Columbia Blvd. off-ramp requires motorists to exit I-5 approximately a quarter-mile to the south of the old Columbia Blvd. off-ramp. During daytime work hours there will be periodic lane closures on Schmeer Road, Columbia Blvd. and the Columbia Blvd. to I-5 southbound on-ramp. Watch for shoulder closures on the northbound I-5 Victory Blvd. off-ramp. Flaggers will be on site to direct motorists and bicyclists. Please be aware that work zone speed limits are enforced by enhanced police traffic patrols in the area. Lanes Affected: (Northbound) Median , All Lanes , Shoulder (Southbound) Median , All Lanes , Shoulder
Comments: Watch for lane closures on Highway 217 and flagging on the Wilshire Street overpass Monday through Wednesday. A contractor is working on a project to add a third through-lane to Highway 217 northbound between Oregon Highway 8 (Tualatin-Valley Highway) and U.S. 26 (Sunset Highway). This project also includes building retaining walls and improving drainage on the highway, lengthening the Wilshire St. overpass, and paving and striping the project area and the Highway 217/U.S. 26 interchange ramps. Lane closures on Highway 217 will only take place from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly. Additionally, only one lane connects Highway 217 northbound to U.S. 26 eastbound. Motorists must use the right lane to travel to U.S. 26 eastbound. Motorists traveling in the center lane of Highway 217 northbound will not be able to access U.S. 26 eastbound. The center lane of Highway 217 northbound will now only continue north to Barnes Road and will not connect to U.S. 26 eastbound. These new lane configurations will be in place for the duration of the project. The Wilshire Street overpass is being reconstructed. The week of Monday, Nov. 23, through Wednesday, Nov. 25, flaggers will be controlling both directions of traffic on the Wilshire St. overpass from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Motorists may experience delays on Wilshire St. of up to 10 minutes. The sidewalk on the south side of the Wilshire Street overpass is closed. Pedestrians are detoured to the sidewalk on the north side of the overpass. During the week, the contractor will work on constructing the retaining wall near the new Wilshire Street overpass and the Wilshire Street off-ramp and continuing to build the retaining wall on Highway 217 north of the Walker Rd. on-ramp. This work will take place behind a temporary barrier during daytime work hours from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Please be aware that work zone speed limits are enforced by enhanced police traffic patrols in the area.
